Hinds North Small Area is bounded by the Hinds River to the west, Hackthorne Road, Maronan-Valetta Road, Tanks Road, a tongue of land running between the two braches of the Ashburton River to a point south of Alford Forest to the north, Blands Road, the locality of Chertsey, the northern boundaries of Fairton township and Ashburton town anf the Ashburton Riover in the east and the Canterbury Bight in the south.
