The Gisborne District extends from Takararoa in the south (bordering Hawke's Bay Regional Council), to Hicks Bay in the north, from East Cape in the east (South Pacific Ocean), to Matawai in the east (bordering both Bay of Plenty and Hawke's Bay Regional Councils to the west).
