Martinborough is located in the northern part of the South Wairarapa District Council area, and is bounded by the locality of Kahutara and Nelsons Road, New York Street and Hinakura Road in the north, the land past Shooting Butts Road White Rock Road in the east, Lake Ferry Road and Ferry Road in the south and State Highway 53 and the land west of Nelsons Road in the west. Martinborough is named after John Martin, the founder of the town.
